AARP Smart Driver Safety Course

Wednesday, October 2nd | 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | The 407 Rec Center - 407 E First St, Prosper, TX

The class will start promptly on the hour! Doors open 15 minutes early. Be ready to become a smarter, safer driver on the road! Sign up to:
- Learn research-based safety strategies that can reduce the likelihood of having a crash
- Learn how aging, medications, alcohol, and other health-related issues affect driving ability, and ways to adjust to allow for these changes
- Know how to drive safely when sharing the road with other road users
- Learn when driving may no longer be safe
- Learn the newest safety and advanced features in vehicles
- Increase confidence

Weekly Activities

Bowling

Join us every Tuesday for a fun-filled afternoon of bowling, meeting new people, getting exercise, and sharing laughter. Our laid-back group is not a league; there are no obligations, penalties, competition, or teams. You're welcome to come once or on a weekly basis, and we encourage bowlers of all skill levels to join us! Whether you score an 85 or a 185, you'll feel right at home. Registration is not required.

Tuesdays, 1:00 p.m. @ Strikz Entertainment, 8789 Lebanon Rd, Frisco, TX 75034

$12 per week due at the door. This covers three games and shoes.  You only pay for the weeks you play.

Dominoes: Tuesdays, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Any variety of dominoes-based games including 42, Mexican Train, or even Chickenfoot.

Canasta: Thursdays, 12 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Chair Yoga - 2024 Summer REGISTER

Chair yoga is great for those with limited mobility, vertigo, or those who have a sedentary lifestyle. Chair Yoga allows the yoga instructor to adapt postures making it accessible to everyone. A chair practice incorporates all of the tools of a regular yoga class such as deep breathing, postures and relaxation. The student receives the same benefits as a mat class without the difficulty of getting on the floor.

Try Chair Yoga to:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Improve strength
  • Increase flexibility and range of motion
  • Improve circulation and blood pressure
  • Better and deepen breathing


August: 4 classes, $48 for the month or $15 drop-in (No class 08/01)

Texas A&M AgriLife - 2024 Fall REGISTER

Cooking Well for High Blood Pressure

Designed to prevent and manage high blood pressure through healthy eating and lifestyle changes, 'Cooking Well with High Blood Pressure' touches on the DASH eating pattern, how to effectively grocery shop, and how to cook with spices and herbs. This is a 4-class series and costs $35 per participant for all 4 weeks. All cooking materials and ingredients are included in class fee. You do not have to have high blood pressure to attend!
