Soccer Sparks skills classes offer age-appropriate soccer classes for kids ages 2 to 12 in a low pressure, high skill learning environment. Kickin’ with the Parents - Ages 2 to 3 Parent and child soccer! By playing fun games, children improve their blossoming balance, coordination, and general motor skills. Beginner Basketball Camp Beginner Basketball Camp is designed for players of all skills

supplied. Bring Water and a snack. Speed Sports Multi Camp Speed Sports is a multi-sport camp that is super-fast and

Novice 1 and Beginner 1: 4:50-5:50 p.m. Explore fundamental chess concepts such as the board, its pieces, rules, and phases of the game. Students will learn basic tactics, game positions, material advantage, exchanges, calculate simple exchanges (or trades). The Novice Level 1 is for participants with no prior chess training and have a little knowledge/ experience with chess, who do NOT have established chess rating or their rating is < 200. Novice 2 and Beginner 2: 6-7 p.m. Students will learn game positions and piece strengths/ weaknesses. Better way to activate pieces and gain control of the board. They will also learn notations and advanced calculation of exchanges, and basic checkmate patterns. The Novice 2 level is for participants with a chess rating between 300 to 600. This level teaches transitional tactics between Novice and Intermediate. Students will learn complex exchanges and calculations, how to control the opponent territory, advanced checkmate patterns, positional play, use of their pieces effectively, piece harmony, and pawn formations all while enhancing their chess foundation! | UIL Chess Puzzle Course - 2026 Fall | REGISTER |
UIL Chess Puzzle contests require students to chess puzzles
solve paper-and-pencil based chess puzzles with chess diagrams, rather than
playing live matches. Tests consist of approximately 20 multiple-choice or
fill-in-the-blank puzzles and include a 5-minute tiebreaker section. Contestants calculate the best moves, analyze material
advantages, and solve checkmate sequences within 30 minutes. This course is focused on preparing the participants for a
better success in UIL chess contest! The course is broken down in 4 levels: (after the 1st class
your level will be determined). L1: Novice (Level 1: new player) L2: Beginner (Level 2) L3: Intermediate (Level 3) L4: Advanced (Level 4) Key Concepts and Skills covered in this course: Checkmate and Stalemate: Determining the fewest moves to
checkmate or forcing a stalemate to draw when behind in material. Chess Notation: Reading and writing piece movements and
locations accurately. Chess pieces and science behind them! : Knowing the relative
points of pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, and queens to evaluate trades. Opening Principles and solving puzzles related to getting
early success in the opening. Tactics: A different set if twctics are covered at each
level. For exampe: Novice level will cover Identifying forks, skewers, pins,
